Trek in the remote and flawless scenes of West Arunachal Pradesh.
Drive to probably the most beautiful chilly lakes in Eastern Himalayas.
Arunachal Pradesh, a state which will cast you in its charm forever, is a place where you can step into a world of extraordinary beauty and experiences you will not have anywhere of Earth. Remote valleys covered in lush green forests that can be only reached on foot, snow-capped mountains glistening under the sun, gushing rivers carving deep gorges. Arunachal's rugged beauty is sure to charm you like no other. For an amazing holiday, Arunachal Pradesh is your place.
Within this state of beauty, lies an amazing trek that can offer that you ever wanted. Adventure, thrill, beatitude, it's all here in this one trek - Monpa Trail Trek. The region west of the Kameng River, which includes Bomdila and Tawang, is inhabited by the Monpas, a benevolent Buddhist tribe, is one of the most spectacular regions of Arunachal Pradesh. From trekking through its dense forest, grooving into the ever-beautiful views of this place to sharing stories with the local people, enjoying the small tea-sessions with fellow adventurers, this trip is filled with undiscovered nature, culture and life.
Day 1: Arrive at Guwahati and drive to Bhalukpong
Our trek begins when we reach the grandeur city of Guwahati. We leave
the city and drive through lush, picturesque road towards Tezpur. Bhalukpong is
situated on the border of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, it is 60 km far from
Tezpur. We cruise through the beautifully verdant forests alongside the Kameng
River, till we reach Bhalukpong, which also houses a check post of Arunachal
Pradesh. We stay in one of the guest houses near the check post. For the rest
of the day, we delve into the ethnicity of this beautiful town of Bhalukpong
before we begin our enthralling trip the next day.
Day 2: Drive from Bhalukpong to Lagaam
Since the roads are on a very high altitude and on such altitudes, the weather can turn bad, thus, we will leave early in the morning to avoid any such obstacles which may hinder our trip. However, the adventurers have nothing to worry about. The silver lining is the dense flora on both sides of a lone road whose depth always increases, the delineated landscapes will always be a sight of delight to the onlookers. As we leave Bhalukpong, the roads will begin to climb up the mountains steadily. We will observe plenty of army camps as we make our way through the foggy jungles towards Dirang. On our way to Dirang, we come across a beautiful town of Bomdila, a comely hill town on mountain slopes. This town's beauty is added by the small streams, the beautiful architecture of the homes in this town along with the serene weather. After we take a detour at Munna Camp from Dirang, we leave for our ultimate destination, Lagaam by late in the noon. The road to Lagaam is unpaved and it will definitely seem like a ride for the travelers. The town of Lagaam is situated amongst very dense forests. Lagaam provides for a stunning camping sight under the beautifully lit sky before start our trek into the Eastern Himalayas.
Day 3: Trek from Lagaam to Thungri
We hike through the densely green forest trail of this region, moving ahead for the next couple of hours. The setting of the surroundings is so serene and beautiful, the excitement remains constant during this trek. After a few hours of trekking higher altitude, our trail then comes across another beautiful place, Chander. This region is an optional starting point for this trek since it has a motor-able path. This path is used mostly by the army vehicles but it is used by occasional trekkers quite often and locals tread through this route too. The inclination eases out a little from this point. Our today’s destination is only an hour away from this point. While on this trail, we can still have Lagaam, Pangma, and Thembang in our vision as we move farther while our path loses its narrowness and broadens and is decorated by the very homely Tibetan prayer flags. These flags represent peace, compassion, wisdom, and strength. Seeing these flags while trekking along this path instigates enthusiasm. Thungri is a place that serves two motives: a trek's first camping site and as a place to keep livestock for the locals in summer. Since this is a part of the great Himalayas, cold and heavenly scenic beauty is very obvious. The cold increases during the night, thus, after our dinner we must stay inside the tents and get some rest for our next day's trek.
Day 4: Trek from Thungri to Chander

Day 5: Trek from Chander to Sangti valley (4 to 5 hours) and drive to Dirang (30 minutes)
Trek from Chander to Sangti Valley is a downhill. Our trail will be different from our initials days of trekking. The trail may just be steep at some time, it follows through some lush green forests and then comes across some terraced hill fields and some small settlements. Enjoying our time with locals by talking with them, spending time with them, we trek our way down to the road near the river below. Our journey for the day ends when we drive back to Dirang and rest in our guesthouse to get ready for tomorrow's voyage.
Day 6: Drive from Dirang to Bomdila
We again make an early start to reach Bomdila since it will take us around 6 to 7 hours to reach. Bomdila is a very appealing and prepossessing hill town, we had just seen a gist of it earlier in our trek. Because of the beauty of this place, spending a day here is necessary. We spend this day visiting monasteries and experiencing Buddhist culture. We eat their local food and converse with the native people of this town.
Day 7: Drive back to Guwahati from Bomdila via Tezpur
On the last day of our trip to Eastern India, we travel back to the beautiful city of Guwahati which will take about 8 hours, thus, we will leave at 6 AM in the morning. We reach our destination before the sun sets, so we can watch this phenomenal view peacefully. After this long drive, we enjoy our time in the city before we say goodbye to our fellow adventurers.
Day 8: Buffer Day
We unequivocally suggest putting aside an additional day for this
trek. Deferrals are regular amid street travel in Arunachal Pradesh. The
additional day can likewise be used for a short climb from Thungri towards
Changla, climate and different conditions allowing.
You can fly directly to Guwahati Airport. We will arrange pickup from Guwahati Airport.
