Red Bull: How helpful will RedBull be in energizing me if I take it on a trek?

Published On 01 Mar 2020 by Oshank Soni

It is necessary that we stay hydrated at high altitude. Nevertheless, a strong diuretic is not going to help much. It will eventually dehydrate your body. While on the trek, you will need a good amount of blood flow so your muscles can work efficiently. It is more advisable to carry separate sugar pouches, electrolytes bottles, and normal drinking water. You can also carry powder Gatorade or Dextrosol to mix in your water for a quick energy boost.
Moreover, the caffeine content in RedBull is very high. Caffeine can cause increased heartbeat and blood pressure, which may cause a problem in high altitudes. With such hard physical work, it may be life-threatening for people with an undiagnosed heart condition. You can take tea or coffee for your trails if you like. If these drinks are part of your everyday ritual then it will not cause you any issues. Usually, on high altitude treks, tea is a popular beverage along with some garlic soup.
