No, it is not wise to trek in July to Gaumukh. Because it?s Monsoon time. During your ride, you can discover slides and broken paths. Heavy rain will make the trekking region worse. The best time to visit Gaumukh is September-June. Gaumukh?s sacred place is best visited from April to June and again from September to November, from where the glacier finally starts to melt into the big river. Winter months are too cold for a visit and rainfall makes transport difficult, only during the spring, summer and autumn months, during the monsoons.
While most people say it is an easy trek that I agree with most of the time, please note that this trip brings you to high altitude regions and different people have different responses to their altitude changes independent of their physical fitness. Heavy rain can also make it difficult. A Tapovan guide is recommended although.
