Is it advisable to go for Roopkund trek in (skeleton trek) monsoon (considering chances of landslides)?

Published On 17 May 2020 by Harshit Patel

Roopkund trek is considered to be the most difficult trek in Uttarakhand. It is situated at an elevation of over 15,000 feet. This trek has a high difficulty level questioning the trekkers to answer the deep snow layering, forests, meadows, and fast-flowing freezing streams. You can find assorted forests with running Rhododendron, Oak and Silver Birch along with a complete blanket of snow holding it. The trail consists of many beautiful waterfalls, snow bridges, and lush green forests. The ascent is also very steep at many points which makes it difficult to move forward. There are instances of hailstorms during the trail which makes the trek even more difficult. Generally, monsoon is not a good time to visit Hampta Pass. Late July and early August should be avoided because of landslides in this region. The trail also gets very slippery and hence it proves to be risky for the trekkers
