It is very famous among beginners. Hampta Pass incorporates a maximum height of 14,000 feet. The trek distance includes a walk of approximately 26 kilometers. It takes around 5 days to and from Manali in order to complete the trek. The most fascinating thing that draws the attention of tourists is the presence of snow almost throughout the trail. Hampta Pass trekking has a difficulty level of easy to moderate. It is a perfect mix of easy and difficult trails. It has a cross over a trail through passes. Weather is quite pleasurable at daytime but it tends to get worse by the night. The temperature falls to a minimum of -5 degrees centigrade while it revolves around 10 to 15 degrees centigrade during the daytime. The best time to do this trek is from May to August. However, this trek in may attracts the most number of tourists because may is considered to be peak season for tourists to visit Manali. The journey from Jobra to Chika (10,100 feet) comprises of a beautiful trail. You will come across fast-flowing freezing streams accompanied with massive rocks. The lush green patches along with a variety of flora will transmit to you another world. Not only flora, but you will also come across various faunae such as mules and sheep. A half an hour of a trek through a mixed forest of pine, bright green maple trees, and silver birch will surely leave you awestruck with the beauty of this place. Further advancement of the trek from Jobra will let you to Chika.

Looking back from where you are, you will see the elegant Dhauladhar range with its snow-laden peaks. You will come across a small stream where you can relax and replenish your water supplies. The water is icy cold and the crossing you surely give you a feeling of shiver. You have to cross this Rani Nallah in order to reach the Jwara campsite. Jwara valley turns into a valley of flowers in the month of July and August when the monsoon is at its peak. You will be amazed to see the melting of snow into the river and the grazing of cattle. A feeling of immersing yourself into the magnificence of nature will surely accumulate your body with an immediate adrenaline rush.  A few hours of trek from Jwara will take you to Balu ka Ghera (11,900 feet). It has a moderate trail and a gradual ascent. You will come across a lot of water bodies and vibrant tiny flowers throughout the trail.

Hampta Pass Trek 2019

The next step is the trek from Balu ka Ghera to Siagoru, crossing Hampta Pass. This is the coldest place of the trek. This place is devoid of flowing water. Initially, the ascent is gradual but then there is a steep climb till the pass. You can witness the sublime Indrasan peak and the sonorous Lahaul valley from here. The likes of intriguing peaks such as Deo Tibba and Peak 5260 will also surround you at some point of the trail. You might also come across shepherds heading back to Lahaul valley with a large herd of sheep. Life will come to a standstill witnessing the amazing landscapes snow-clad mountains all around you.

The last step is the visit from Hampta Pass to Chandratal lake. Chandratal lake is a well known high altitude alpine lake which can be reached after a few hours of trek from Chatru. Chatru is around 5 hours of downhill trek from Siagoru. The trail is along the side of the river valley amidst mountain ranges. Chatru is barren land with no accumulation of vegetation. The route is slippery which demands sure footing and mindful navigation. The descent is very tough and the route is meandering. It is better to climb down with the help of ropes and supports. You will have to cross more than two glaciers. After a long walk, you will come across the sheer blue moon lake. The clarity and serenity of this lake will blow your mind with excitement. This beautiful scenery and serenity of the place will surely restrict your return back into the chaotic world.
