Ladakh is situated in the northernmost part of India which contains a major portion of the Himalayas. The region remains cold all year round. Summers are quite pleasant with temperatures varying from 10 to 20-degree centigrade while winters are freezing with temperatures dropping as low as -25 degrees centigrade. Generally, the best time for trekking in Ladakh is during the summer months but you can still trek all year round except for a few places in winter. There are few passes that remain closed during winters because of heavy snowfall. The trails are blocked with the white blanket of snow. Few treks can still be availed during winters. Chadar trek in winter is preferred by the trekkers who are in quest for thrill and adrenaline rush. The trail of Chadar trek remains completely frozen in winter. Sham valley trek is accessible almost throughout the year.
