It is a good idea of keeping both the shoes as both of them have their own benefits for the trip as they have a very tight grip. A few of the reasons are mentioned below:
1. While walking on the chadar, the gumboots are best for the penguin walk.
2. There might be some places during the trek where you?ll find that the chadar is not formed or is melted in some places, in such case you might need to walk in knee-high water level for some stretches. Hence, gumboots are the shoes to go for.
3. Since you?ll be wearing your gumboots for the whole day, you can ditch them when you reach camp and go for your Quechua shoes or any other good trekking shoes to make your feet comfortable as they become sweaty which leads to itching.
